Long time no seeing! Since our teacher told us to read another book, I decided to read 'The Fault in our Stars' by John Green. Basically the book is about the love story of Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Waters, but who doesn't know that? Everyone has either read the book or seen the trailer of the film. Honestly I'm way to excited for this movie, although I'll be crying like a baby in the end, cause we all know how this book ends. And if you don't let me tell you one thing: SPOILER ALERT!
So to start of we have so read the first chapter. Well I have to, since I don't have the slightest idea, if someone else is reading this so... Okay, since I've read this book already a couple of times (yes, I am a bad person, because I read books more than once) I'll have to introduce you to the main character of this story.
Hazel Grace Lancaster. Sixteen, Thyroid originally but with an impressive and long-settled satellite colony in her lungs. And she is doing okay. (if you didn't notice, I just quoted this, because otherwise I wouldn't have remembered her illness. Sure I know it's cancer, but I don't have the slightest idea what a thyroid is and I'm way to lazy to google it.)
Just in the first chapter there happens such a lot of stuff. Well, since depression is a side effect of dying, which Hazel knows she is going to, she has to attend a weekly support group, because her doctor told her to do. Which meant that teenagers and children met up in the basement of a church which was shaped like a cross and they were sitting in the literal heart of Jesus. (Kind of weird if you ask me.)
Back to the story; after arguing with her mum, that she doesn't want to go to the Support Group this particular Wednesday, if I remember correctly, because she wants to stay home and watch America's Next Topmodel.
Her mum ends up driving her to the church, where they met and so Hazel made her way into the building. There were two ways to get to the basement, which was either the stairs or the elevator. Although she has an oxygen tank she decides to take the first opportunity, because taking the elevator is some sort of last days activity.
When she arrives in the basement (gosh I am writing this word way to often) she gets herself some lemonade and notices a pretty hot boy, who was starring at her. Also known as Augustus Waters. After them having a stare battle, which Hazel wins (obviously), and Patrick's (the support group leader and only person over 18) speech about his balllessnes (yes, he had ball cancer), they start talking about their biggest fears and he asks Augustus about his biggest fear, which is oblivion.
After Hazel's quite amazing response, (which wanted to quote, but it was simply to much to write and I'm tired) they pray 'Living our best live today' and with that the meeting is over. Hazel's 'friend' Isaac (if you can call him her friend at that point) is off to see his girlfriend Monica, who is quite important at some point in this story.
Well, Augustus and Hazel begin to talk and he tells her that she looks beautiful. Like millennial Natalie Portman. Like V for Vendetta Natalie Portman and invites her over to his place to watch the movie. She considers it, but then Augustus pulls out a pack of cigarettes and she is fuming, because he survived cancer once (osteosarcoma, forgot to mention that) and he was planning to get it once again. But he explains to her that it was a metaphor, that he put the killing thing in between his teeth, but didn't give it the power to kill him.
At the end of the first chapter, Hazel tells her mum that she is going to watch V for Vendetta with Augustus and that she (her mum) should please record the episodes of ANTM that she is going to miss.
The perfect beginning of a love story, isn't it? Hazel and Augustus are my OTP. I know I said my OTP were Katniss and Gale, buuuuut I always have new OTPs. The only constant OTP in my life is Troyler, but who wouldn't want Tyler Oakley and Troye Sivan to be in a relationship. They are perfect for each other! Okay, enough of me talking about OTPs and all that stuff.
I hope you could understand what I was talking about, because actually I don't have any idea what I just wrote ;) just kidding, but honestly, if you don't get what I mean I am so sorry. Sometimes I just start rambling :)
Lots of Love
xxxxx
